Soaring in the Mountains

Originally taken on August 31, 2007

Well, I can’t believe it — for the first time, I left my camera at home today. I’ll take this opportunity to dig into my archives and post a picture I’ve been dying to share.

This was taken en route up to Mt. Huron, a 14er that stands tall at 14,003′ tall. On our hike up, we stopped to glance at a map and take in the beautiful surroundings. I captured a few pictures of a bird soaring above our heads, and I snapped a few pictures — this one amazed me. I love the way the bird is clear as day while the trees came out blurry, it brings out the sheer energy of the bird. What do you think?

Brilliant shot. How do you stop a moving object and move other objects that are normally frozen? Truly a fantastic image.

  2. Why thank you Daniel! I took a few shots just letting the bird enter the frame – however, none of them were that clear. Instead, I followed the bird with my camera, snapped a shot and this was the end result – must’ve gotten him right on target 🙂

  3. Wow, great capture! Crisp focus on that awesome bird! Way to go! Thanks for commenting at my site. 🙂
