Don’t Forget Polaroid

219 // June 01, 2008

Alright. By show of hands, how many of you knew that Polaroid is slowly phasing out production of instant film products by February of 2009? When I heard the news, I thought , “Oh, crap! I gotta get my hands on one pronto!” and thus received one from The Parents that they didn’t use anymore. Knowing it works, I just have to get some 600 film.

Since acquiring this camera, I’ve perused some websites such as and especially other Polaroid photographers such as MyPolaroidBlog and a photographer on Flickr, Adamwithoutanyhands. As “retro” and obsolete as Polaroid seems to be, these people really make it look cool.

As luck would have it, guess what one of the cameras I received from the sweet old man was — that’s right, a Polaroid camera, complete with the owner’s manual.

Rai on Flickr has a set of Polaroid pictures that are taken with this exact camera — check ’em out.

Oh, and if you happen to have a Polaroid camera laying around in the attic — don’t trash it. Find some film and have some fun. Please. I can’t wait.
