Happy Mother's Day

Mothers are beautiful and they are the thriving force behind all of us. I’m so lucky to have the best mom in the world and the greatest mother-in-law a gal could ask for.

Happy Mother's Day

Today I connected via webcam to my mom and the rest of my family back home to say hello. I really love that even 1000 miles away, we can still literally talk face-to-face with each other. Throughout the day I’ve reflected on my childhood and what a great life she and my Papa have provided me with — and I’m forever grateful to have her in my life.

Happy Mother’s Day. Love you.

Water Puppy?

So having a new puppy — a Portuguese Water Dog to be specific — we thought Cubbie would have a great time splashing around in the tub. He really just wanted to get out instead. Just need to get him to a big lake instead I suppose!

Stairs at Red Rocks Amphitheater

These guys are pretty hard to climb when you are:

1 — exercising
2 — intoxicated at a concert
3 — showing the local sights for visitors

Yet people do all three all the time. Seeing the sights (and even better, a concert) is well worth them, though :)

Wind Blown

The crabapple tree in the backyard has fully blossomed and left a blanket of flower leaves on our deck.

When the wind blows and the flowers fall off the trees, it looks like its snowing — without the cold :)

Meet Cubbie

My husband and I have been waiting to get this special little guy for about 9 months and today finally arrived. He is a Portuguese Waterdog and right now about 8 weeks old, 7 pounds — named after our beloved Chicago Cubs.

Central City

I told you yesterday we were in Central City, so here are some pictures.

Walked around the street a little bit while the boys were finishing up poker and blackjack…

I love the old buildings and the faded paintings — so much history here.

Gone Drinkin'

Hubbie’s birthday festivities have been lit up this weekend already. Some friends from Chicago have flown in already and we took them to Red Rocks, gambling in Blackhawk/Central City, dinner at the Dam Brewery and now are now about to continue the boozing at the condo in the mountains.

Took a ton of pictures today, and Central City was especially sweet. After a comment about having to choose from all the pictures I took during today’s events for my blog post tonight, one of The Visitors wrote this note up for me in good humor and I couldn’t resist posting it instead.

I’ve gone drinking, see you tommorow with a post about the aftermath of Margaritaville.

Aftermath of Spring Snow

It’s the first of May and today we had a bunch of snow fall over Denver — you know, the really wet and heavy stuff.

It certainly didn’t warm up significantly by early evening, but at least the snow stopped and it was all melted.

Dark Side of the Moon

I remember the first time I heard Pink Floyd. I had brought up my parent’s record player and some records to my bedroom — I was 13 years old. I don’t think you ever forget when the first time you hear Dark Side of the Moon…and thus has changed my perspective on music forever. Pink Floyd became one of my few, very top favorite bands to this day.

Dark Side of the Moon

When I found out Roger Waters was going to be in town, nonetheless performing Dark Side, I had tears in my eyes from excitement (sounds dramatic, but I assure you very true). It didn’t take much to convince my husband to give me a very early birthday present :)

Dark Side of the Moon

The show was unbelievable. Set 1 consisted of Floyd classics and a few solo songs. Set 2 was Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. Encore included Comfortable Numb — a flying pig (during Sheep) and lasers (during DSOTM) made their appropriate appearances too. Screen graphics were top quality.

Anyway, you bet I picked up this program — eloquently designed in a slip cover with amazing graphics and typography, this will last way longer than a t-shirt (bought a t-shirt anyway).

Didn’t want to sneak in my camera, so here are some pics from my Treo.

Backyard Musings - Neighborly Items

Noticed the neighbor’s tree that hangs over into our yard started blooming a beautiful pink.

Tiny Green

I’d say spring is well underway… I love the green leafy patterns and tiny circles in this photo.
